Nicki Minaj speaks on her Success
Nicki Minaj recently sat down with MTV to discuss her success this past year.
On Her Success:
"A part of me expected it, because I wanted it so bad, but I never saw all of this," the MC told MTV News' Sway Calloway. "You know, I never would've imagined that I would've signed to [Lil] Wayne, number one."
"I've wanted this for a very long time, but I couldn't — not even with a crystal ball — I could not have predicted these things would really happen this way."
On outselling Kanye weekly since they both dropped 11/22
"Girl power!"

Lil Wayne Donates a Wheelchair To 1 of His fan's Mother
While in Prison Wayne had several people write him letters. Ronda Austin was on of Wayne's faithful fans who wrote him consistently. During his time in jail he wrote him about her life at home and happen to mention that her mother was a prisoner to her own home due to an accident. She told him that she and her father were trying to get her mother a wheelchair and when Wayne got out of prison he made that happen. This was sooo sweet of Wayne! The media always talks about the bad side of Hip Hop and rarely the good things rappers do.

Well Damn: Paul Wal lost 100 Pounds
This is a recent picture of Paul Wall who is 100 pounds lighter now a days. He under went gastric sleeve surgery to loose the extra weight. He said he tried exercising and dieting but couldn't loose the weight. He spoke with Ozone Magazine about his weight loss.
Ozone: When did you decide to get serious about losing weight?
Paul Wall: "Honestly, when we were in Afghanistan and [reps for VH1's] Celebrity Fit Club were contacting [me] about coming on the show. That was a hell of a wake-up call. [Being fat] isn’t a secret. You can look in the mirror and try to hide it and cover it up, and it may work here or there, but there ain’t no shirt or hat you can put on or haircut you can get to hide the fact that you’re morbidly obese. That’s what the doctor said: I was “morbidly obese.” I decided not to do [the show] but it was still a wake-up call to have people calling you saying, “Hey, you’re really, really fat.” "
Ozone: What kind of weight-loss surgery did you get?
Paul Wall: "The surgery I got is called gastric sleeve. There’s three kinds: gastric bypass, lap band, and the gastric sleeve. Gastric bypass is the one where you lose the most weight the quickest; it’s for people who are 400-500 pounds and have health problems that they need to fix right away. Since [the weight loss] happens so fast it leaves you with a lot of saggy skin. The lap band, which is very popular, is when they put a band around your stomach and it makes you feel like you’re full, so you don’t eat. But there’s ways to cheat with it, and with the lap band, you can always get it removed to go back to normal. [My weight] has been up and down my whole life, so I wanted to do something to permanently fix the problem. Since going back and forth on the drugs for years and taking diet pills, my metabolism was really gone. So I decided to go with the gastric sleeve, because it’s a little more serious than the lap band. They also cut out the hormones that make you hungry. So I actually don’t even get hungry anymore. The doctor talked me out of doing the lap band; he told me it’s the most popular, but it’s not as effective. With the lap band, you lose about 50% of your excess weight. I was 120 pounds overweight. I weighed 320 pounds, and I’m six feet tall. So with the lap band I still would’ve been morbidly obese. With the gastric sleeve, you typically lose 80% of your excess fat. I lost 100pounds with it, so that’s putting me in a more healthy weight class."
Ozone: Having lost 100 pounds, do you see a noticeable difference in your life?
Paul Wall: "Yeah, hands down. I feel like I got my life back. When you’re so big like that, it’s embarrassing. I didn’t want to go out and be seen. I felt uncomfortable because I’m not used to being that big. People would see me and say something about it, because it was no secret. I was morbidly obese, 120 pounds overweight. It was just embarrassing. I’d be on stage feeling like I was about to collapse. I’d get dizzy spells. I’d be on the airplane and have to ask for seatbelt extensions. Once you go up in the air, it’s really hard to breath. I was just thinking, “What if I have a heart attack?” I want to be here for my kids. I don’t want to have a heart attack. My son is four and my daughter is two and a half. The doctor told me that when you’re 50 pounds overweight, it takes 15 years off your life. So it literally saved my life."
He looks good! Good lock on your journey Paul Wall!
Haitian Aids joke leads to DJ Cipha Sounds Suspension
Emmis Communications' HOT 97 announced today the indefinite suspension of DJ Cipha Sounds in response to negative comments he made regarding HIV and the Haitian community. At first Hot 97 said he wasn't going to be suspended or fired but it looks like things have changed. Yes it was wreckless but was it worth firing him? I would like to know the statistics of Hatians that actually listen to Hot 97. I think his apology should have been enough. Now they are going to make the appease the situation by firing him? It just doesn't make any sense. He was wrong and we all know this but was it that bad? People make tasteless jokes all the time. I hope this is changed.
Alex Cameron, SVP/Market Manager of Emmis-New York.
"The Haitian community is an important part of our listenership whom we respect and value. The suspension is an indication of the importance we place on delivering a product that respects our Haitian audience. It's a very regrettable and unfortunate circumstance for all involved and particularly because we know this is not the nature of this young man who has been an advocate of the Haitian community and a big part of our fundraising efforts for Haiti. He is committed to working with the Haitian community to make a difference and turn this negative incident into an opportunity for increased learning and awarenessSource

Vanessa & Angela Simmons discuss 50 Million Dollar Business
I really admire these young ladies! I remember when the Pastry line first came out, I was super excited because finally there was a girlie tennis shoe line for me to wear. I already hate tennis shoes but I'm more likely to wear tennis shoes that look and feel girlie to me. Angela & Vanessa Simmons have turned their business into a 50 million dollar business and it's growing. Check it out:

R.I.P Magnolia Shorty
What is going on in New Orleans?! I didn't keep up with Magnolia Shorty but she is the artist of one of my favorite songs "That's my Juvie!!" Bet not mess with my Juvie!!!! She was a queen of bounce music in New Orleans. She was killed yesterday in a double homicide. She is the second well known person to be killed in New Orleans. About a month ago Messy Mya was gunned down after attending his baby shower. The violence has got to stop! A lot of the Cash Money family sent their condolences to her via twitter yesterday. Check out the excerpt
"Monday at about 4 p.m., the first ripples on Twitter began to spread, saying local rapper Magnolia Shorty was the 28-year-old woman who was murdered earlier today in a double homicide in eastern New Orleans.
Magnolia Shorty in New Orleans in June. Within half an hour, the name "Magnolia Shorty" became a trending topic, and a little after 5 p.m., DJ Wild Wayne made an announcement on the air on the hip-hop and R&B station Q93.3FM. "If y'all haven't heard, Magnolia Shorty was killed today," he said. "I'm just astonished. I need to get my head together for a minute." The Orleans Parish coroner's office had not released the names of the shooting victims by Monday evening, so there is no official confirmation from police or the coroner's office that Shorty was killed. A Facebook tribute page called "Magnolia Shorty Got Killed by a Smoking Gun" was created late Monday afternoon as well. The shooting happened about 12:30 p.m. in the 6300 block of Bridgehampton Drive, police said. Officers found a man and a woman, 28, shot inside a car that had crashed into the gates of an apartment complex. Additional details on the shooting were not immediately available. Both victims had been shot several times, according to police. They were dead at the scene, police said. Born Renetta Lowe, Magnolia Shorty signed to Cash Money Records in the early 90's. She was brought to the attention of label owners Bryan "Baby" and Ronald "Slim" Williams by members of the Hot Boys supergroup, who had been her childhood playmates and friends growing up in the Magnolia Project. Shorty released her first CD on the label in 1995. Most recently, she had a pair of local club hits in a row with "Smoking Gun," a remix of the Jadakiss song, last year, as well as this year's "My Boy," a collaboration with R&B singer and newly signed Jive Records artist Kourtney Heart. Magnolia Shorty performed frequently with rapper and R&B singer Ms Tee, the only other woman signed to the Cash Money label."

Yo Gotti Interview with MTV UK
The self proclaimed "King of Memphis" recently sat down with MTV UK to talk about his music, movement, and life.
Check out a few excerpts from the interview:
The Wrap Up: This is your huge introduction to Europe but we want to know first, if we were coming from London to Memphis, what could we expect?
Yo Gotti: On touring s**t, you go downtown Beale Street. If you’re coming to where I’m from, you’re coming to North Memphis. You’re coming to the hood!
TWU: What’s your least favourite question and how do you go about answering it?
Yo Gotti: Definitely the Three Six Mafia questions. I understand in most interviews you have to get the information, but I don’t ever not answer questions in my interviews or tell them what they can’t ask me, because I want it to be real.
TWU: So what’s the status on the Three Six Mafia situation?
Yo Gotti: I think they’ve accomplished a lot of things. A lot of people think we’re beefing, but we’re not beefing, we never were beefing. I just spoke on things that I didn’t like about the situation. What everybody hears me say is exactly what it was. It was never like no beef, or we’re riding around looking for each other.
TWU: How did the whole ‘Cocaine Muzik’ movement start?
Yo Gotti: ‘Cocaine Muzik’ means that the music is as addictive as cocaine itself. ‘Cocaine Muzik’ started off as being just one mixtape, but it connected to the streets so crazy until we had to make it a mixtape series
TWU: Through the ups and downs of the industry and transitions that you have made, what keeps you motivated?
Yo Gotti: Freedom keeps me motivated, I want to stay out of jail. Where I’m from, I see my homeboys go to jail. I still talk to them and send them money every month. So I know we could be changing places at any given time. My freedom, my brother’s freedom and the people around me who work with me that don’t have to do anything negative because they work with me, we’re just trying to stay free.
TWU: What would you say is your proudest moment thus far?
Yo Gotti: The proudest thing for me; is the ability to take care of my family. They don't want for nothing.
I'm sure that Three six question is aggravating! Just like the whole Chris Brown question is for Rihanna.. But you can read the full interview here
#WhereIsSouljahBoy
So by now everyone has heard about the awful numbers Souljah Boy did after dropping his album on November 30th. His albums have never done well in the past anyway but this time he didn't even do 20k. Well I was sitting her thinking about Souljah Boy and how I haven't seen him in my timeline in a while. Souljah Boy has kinda dropped off the face of the Earth, well the twitter Earth. He's probably embarrassed and upset. I would be too if I had 2,510,148 followers and only 13k bought my album. I'm just like all these people can't be fans. That's a lot of followers who claim they are fans but didn't even go support you and your work. Souljah has been off twitter for a little over a week which is very strange for him. Damn #whereissouljahboy
Merry Christmas from the Kardashians
The Kardashians have released their 2010 Christmas card for all to see! I love it! Little Mason looks uber cute with his little pinstripe suit on. He's even standing by himself. The younger sister standing by Kim looks a tad bit scary, I think it's her make-up. But overall beautiful family!! Khloe is giving me life! *sighs*
Keyshia Cole on Wendy Williams
Keyshia Cole stopped by the Wendy Williams show to promote her new album "Calling All Hearts" She looked beautiful too!
Wendy asked to see that huge rock on Keyshia hand and about her mother Frankie:
Keyshia performing "Long Way Down" the entire interview with Wendy
Her album drops next week. I still think it was rushed. She just popped up and boom her album is dropping. Her vocals have not bee the best in these performances either and I'm a fan.
Ciara on Chelsea Lately
Will All of Diddy's Promo turn into Album Sales?
Not according to one of my fav sites "Hits Daily Double." They have released sales predictions for next week and Diddy Dirty Money’s Last Train To Paris is supposed to sell in the 65k range. Damn for Diddy when he put so much money into this project. Speaking of promo, Diddy ustreamed the "Last Train To Paris" album release party and while doing so one of the video chick's hair aught fire. No lie her damn hair caught fire. LOL now her as knew candles would be around her so she should have kept the flames away from her hair! Kevin Hart, Fabolous, and Trey didn't make things better. Bet she wont be trying the candle/bath tub thing anymore.
I can't stop laughing at that ish.. I bet the rest of the night that area spelled like burnt hair. People walking by looking at girls with tha "you should have turned the curlers down" look smh
In other album sales news Michael Jackson‘s new album “Michael” will claim the top spot with 225-250k sold. R. Kelly’s Love Letter is expected to sell in the 150k range, and Ciara‘s Basic Instinct is projected to sell around 35k.
Double damn to Ciara with only 35k. smh she needs a clothing line or sumin

New Video: RaSheeda ft. Toya "Badder"
This song is f'n aggravating.. Rasheeda just go to school or su, ish because you have been at it for a minute and still haven't popped.. Rapping is not your strong point. I think I like the hook and nothing more. Toya!!! I love you but you are an awful rapper.. You looked hot in the video but please stick to either reality shows or other business ventures. No rapping please. What yall think?

This Kid Is Very Talented..And He's Only 17!" that ish is soooo true. Did yall see how he switched it up on que? Funny I'll be keeping my ear and eyes open for this young man.
This Breaks My Heart... Yo Gotti Arrest Warrant Issued
Ugh! Ugh! Barchies!!!! Yall gotta know I'm hurt like Gotti is my blood or sumin smh Over the weekend an arrest warrant was issued for Yo Gotti, real name Mario Mims, in connection with the shooting at Level II on November 29, 2010. OG Boo Dirty is also wanted along with 11 other people.
From New Channel 3:
A police affidavit states that Lance Taylor, a.k.a. OG Boo Dirty, and Mario Mims, a.k.a. Yo Gotti, "were involved in a verbal altercation."
A third man got involved, and Boo Dirty allegedly punched him. A fight ensued, resulting in six people shot.
Three were struck in the buttocks, one in the wrist and one in the shoulder, according to the affidavit. The sixth victim was an off-duty security guard, who was standing about 40 yards from the melee.
Neither Yo Gotti nor OG Boo Dirty is in custody, as of Saturday night.
Yo Gotti's lawyer, Art Horne, said that his client is out of town.
"He just wanted his fans and the public to know that...he doesn't condone that type of behavior, and that again, he plans to deal with the charges that have been filed against him," Horne said.
Horne added, "Once he comes back and deals with the allegations, I think his name will be cleared."
Boo Dirty's lawyer, Harold Durham, told News Channel 3 he had spoken with his client after the fight happened, but did not go into much detail. He was unaware of the arrest warrant out for his client.
Eleven warrants were issued on Friday, and by Saturday night, three men involved were in custody on charges of aggravated riot. They are Vernon McClendon, Kenneth Mason, and Howard Greer
Ok, about 3 months ago when I first heard about this "beef" with Yo Gotti I really prayed it would never directly come to him. I say directly meaning that he would be forced to deal with this. He's soooo much bigger than these local rappers. They used the oldest trick in the book and dissed someone they knew would bring them attention.
Before yall start this "she's a groupie," "She hasn't listened to their music," "she hasn't heard their side of the story" ish let me say I have. I have heard their music(I'm not impressed nor am I a fan) and I also watched(yes I sat down and watched this madness)an interview with OG Boo Dirty and King Star( I think that's his name)and heard what supposedly started this beef. It's crazy! In a city where some of the world's biggest names have come from one would think artist would work together instead of trying to bring each other down. I wish I could find that interview. Basically it stated that they were mad because Gotti didn't speak to them or some ish. Whatever the case may be these guys have taken this "beef" to another level. Life is too short. I thank God people were only hurt and not killed that night after the club. I can bet looking back these young men are thinking it wasn't worth it.
I'm a very big supporter of Gotti and I hope this is a wake up call for him. I hope he understands how much he has going on in his life. Anywho I wasn't there to choose a side in who was right or wrong that night at the club but I pray a positive comes out of all this negativity.
Yo Gotii melbarchie.com loves you and your music and were hoping for the best. #salute
