Remembering Lorenzen Wright

Yeterday would have been the 35th birthday of slain NBA player Lorenzen Wright. His family and friends visited his grave site on yesterday and released 35 red and white balloons in his memory.
Lorenzen was found shot to death on July 28 after being missing for more than a week.
His mother spoke with the Commercial Appeal and told after the family's visit to the cemetery, they planned to go back to her house to share his birthday meal: spaghetti, green beans, garlic bread and coleslaw.
This case is still unsolved and they don't have any new leads. I still tear up when I read anything about this case. It seems so senseless. The killers didn't just take away a NBA player, they took away a father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. May God continue to watch over this family.

Memphis Mourns the death of Lorenzen Wright

The funeral services for ex NBA player Lorenzen Wright,34, took place today. Ironically today marks one week since Memphis Police Department found him shot to death in a wooded area off of Hacks Cross road. I watched the memorial service on tv today and teared up more times than I can count. My heart went out to his family especially his children. Thousands watched as Mayor AC Wharton, Honorable Willie Herenton, Kappa fraternity, family members and friends shared memories of Lorenzen. Steve Cohen even pulled a Kanye and said a few words, he was not on the program. Today Memphis mourns the loss of a son, brother, father, hero, and philanthropist. To date Memphis police have yet to release any further information in the murder case. Many suspect his wife only because of her contradicting stories she has given. I pray that justice is served to whomever committed this horrific crime. Here are a few pictures via news channel 3's website
